Rooted in Place

Rooted in Place is more than a philosophy—it’s how we approach every home we design and build.
It begins with the land, is shaped through process, and is carried by the people behind it.

For us, that process is closely tied to Lake Lotawana. It’s where we’ve spent years designing and building, learning how each lot is different, how the light moves across the water, and how homes here are meant to sit within their surroundings. That familiarity brings a certain clarity. Decisions aren’t made in isolation—they’re made with an understanding of the place, and with an awareness of how everything will come together.

The people we build for are part of that as well. These aren’t just projects handed off from start to finish, but homes that belong to a community we’re connected to. That naturally changes the level of care we bring to the work. We think beyond the immediate—considering how a home will function day to day, how it will feel years from now, and how the choices made early on will continue to matter long after construction is complete.

That same perspective extends beyond the homes themselves. Our involvement with Powell Gardens reflects a shared appreciation for environments that are shaped with intention and experienced over time. Places like that don’t come together all at once—they evolve, layer by layer, guided by thoughtful decisions along the way. It’s a process we recognize and value, and one that closely mirrors how we approach our own work.

Design and construction aren’t separate efforts. They move together as part of one continuous process—one that begins with the land, is shaped by the people, and carries through every detail. It’s steady, deliberate, and grounded in something larger than the project itself.

Our connection to Powell Gardens is a natural extension of what “Rooted in Place” means to us.

For Chris, both Lake Lotawana and Powell Gardens have been part of his life for years. While they’re very different environments, they share a common thread—spaces shaped with intention, meant to be experienced over time rather than all at once.

That perspective carries directly into our work.

At the lake, we design homes that respond to the land, the water, and how people live within them. At Powell Gardens, that same level of thought is evident in how each space unfolds—layered, deliberate, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

Our involvement there isn’t separate from what we do—it reinforces it.

Because being rooted in place isn’t just about where we build. It’s about staying connected to environments that value thoughtful design, long-term thinking, and a sense of belonging.
